Real Estate Listing sites have gotten a lot of press lately. The list keeps growing and so do the features. Here is a sample with links to each site. I tried to link each site to the current listings for Nags Head NC.
Google Base
Trulia
Zillow
Oodle
Edgeio
PropSmart
Craigslist
Live Expo
There are regional sites such as redfin and shackprices that have some awesome features - they will probably roll out nationwide in the future. Backpage is similar to Craigslist but does not currently have a section for the Outer Banks.
There are services such as vFlyer that will post your listing to a few of the sites listed above. WellcomMat make it easy to post your virtual tour to Craigslist. Realtors advertising with Homes and Land will also post listings to many of the sites listed above.
Check them out and let leave a comment on the ones you like, the ones you don't and why.

Thanks for helping our group look through to the many opportunities available in world of marketing on the web for real estate. Out clients are out there looking at this so we will need to embrace it. Nice work Ronnie!

We - at RealBird - also distribute listings to most of the above sites via our RealBird Publisher service. We were actually one of the first one to syndicate real estate listings to the edge of the Internet in March 2006 ( see: http://realbird.typepad.com/news/2006/03/realbird_publis.html )
One important classified site missing from the above list is vast.com
You can see a comparison of monthly unique visitors of some of these classified sites here:
http://realbird.typepad.com/news/2007/03/vastcom_now_car.html
We have a couple of unique features:
- Large 800x600 pixel slide-show support
- Embed any digital media (not only YouTube videos, but any number and any type of media)
- Private labeled driving directions - all direction print-out has the agent photo and contact info on it
- Search engine optimization - we have RealBird listings showing up on the first page (even some at the first place) on Google for real-world search queries
- Cross marketing of your blog posts on your listing flyers
And most importantly: the ability to link your RealBird listing sites to other online listing flyers and virtual tours. We do not want agents to pick us or the other vendor. Why not use more than one for to maximize the marketing reach and for those features where a particular vendor shines more?
It's all about listing marketing and exposure in general. The more you get for your property, the better chance to sell it quick and for the highest price.
Thanks for the post Ronnie.
