Everything is heating up on the Outer Banks except the weather. Here is a snapshot from cold to hot:
A few snowflakes actually fell over Easter Weekend. Many owners visit the beach over Easter to prepare their homes for the rental season. Temp - Cold.
The Real Estate market is still slow but there has been a small increase in activity over the last six weeks. Many are looking for those "too good to be true" deals. Searches for Outer Banks Foreclosures continue to rise but actual numbers are surprisingly low. Temp - Cool.
Local Rental companies are reporting strong rental reservations for 2007. Temp - Warm.
Nags Head Beach Nourishment is the hot topic. The vote is less than a week away (Tuesday April 17th, 2007). Organizations on both sides are busy presenting their points. Details with links on the proposal can be found in an earlier post. The Outer Banks Sentinel published an article about claims of voter fraud. Letters to the editor, local blogs and local organizations are getting lots of traffic and comments on the subject of Beach Nourishment. Temp - HOT!!!
I believe we need beach nourishment on the Outer Banks. Beach Nourishment is expensive but so are the alternatives. People vacation here primarily for the beaches - we need to maintain them.
