The Incorporation of Corolla might not be a "done deal". A commission voted unanimously to not approve the incorporation of the Outer Banks community. The vote will now go before the North Carolina General Assembly for approval.

Thank goodness that incorporation is not going through. I own a second home in Corolla and was not in favor of seeing my real estate taxes doubled in order for a bunch of retired new yorkers and jerseyites to make a fat salary while living in their beach houses and handing out contracts to their friends and relatives. They've ruined all their beaches up north with over development and outrageous taxes so these clowns moved south to try and take advantage of a sleepy little town that is almost deserted 7 months out of the year. I'd like to see them all go back north and leave Corolla alone!!

In regards to Corolla Incorporation, I was on the Corolla incorporation committee and Mike D who criticised the incorporation of Corolla does not know the facts. The permanent residents of Corolla are not earning "fat salaries" and they are not the ones who have "ruined the beaches with overdevelopment". The Currituck County Commissioners are responsible for the overdevelopment, poor planning and lack of proper police protection on the northern Outer Banks! The residents have done a lot of reasearch and found 62% Currituck County taxes come from the northern OBX and receive a very small percentage of it back! Now that is throwning your tax money away! Please find out more about Corolla Incorporation before thinking of higher taxes.
