Ronnie,

I like those ideas. I think all three would be great for the area. It is a wonder that there is no tournaments run from the area. We do have an abundance of beautiful facilities. A convention center would definitely make sense. I had no idea about the competitive swimming pool but I think that would also be a bonus for the area. The only thing I think would be good for the area would be to hold a summer fair. Often people who visit are looking for more to do. If we had a seasonal fair that offered rides, games, and food, it would offer many of those families with kids an additional place to keep those kids occupied.

Kevin,

I think they do have a few tournaments in soccer, baseball and lacrosse but it is something they could expand upon. Summer fair would be nice.

Ronnie,

Oh I did not realize it. I am in agreeance though. A large scale tournament during an off-season month would provide a significant amount of traffic for a weekend.

Do you know anywhere to find information on the pool, Dare County was thinking about?

Another thought I had would be for someone to hold a concert or festival during a May or September weekend. Something to have the impact of the OBX Marathon.

Kevin,

Dare County has purchased 11 acres of land for a park off of Kitty Hawk Road. They are also looking for land in Hatteras and Roanoke Island.

Festivals are a great idea also - a nice outdoor pavilion would be a great addition.
