Last night while rolling back into town, I saw my brightest fireball to date. It happened at 10:00 while driving north towards Southern Shores on the bypass. It might have been an early start to the Perseids Meteor Shower which will happen over the next 10 days.
The Outer Banks is such a great place to view Meteor Showers - the lack of light pollution and the fact that you are on a beach makes viewing that much better.
Fireballs are much larger and brighter than a typical meteor. Many might mistake a fireball for fireworks - not last night's version. It looked like a flare shot from above towards the beach. Hope everyone has a chance to view the heavenly show next week.

I'm sorry I missed that Fireball. Hopefully there are more to come with the Perseids Meteor Shower. Thanks for pointing out the upcoming meteor shower. It is always a good mid-summer sight, and the Outer Banks is a great spot for viewing the night sky.

That must have been really cool! I have never heard of a fireball and have definitely never seen one. Maybe next time I'm up camping that way, I will have mine chance while staring at the stars.
Hope you are well,

Catching one of these are pure luck. There are certain meteor showers that can give you a better chance.
Walt, hope all is well with you also.
